Suddenly paralyzed in the 4th grade Lauren McDevitt said her classmates saw her as the same person when she returned, just sitting down. Two months after her injury she began riding as therapy, started competing and beating able bodied competitors. She won a bronze medal in the 1996 Paralympic Games.
