THE CURE

FROM THE EDGE OF THE DEEP GREEN SEA

i wish i could just stop
i know another moment will break my heart
too many tears
too many times
too many years i've cried for you
it's always the same
wake up in the rain
head in pain
hung in shame
a different name
same old game
love in vain
and miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
away from home again...

WHY WE LOVE CATS!

1. Noses that twitch.
2. Supersoft paws.
3. Their love affair with open boxes...
4. ...and rubber bands.
5. Their vigilant surveillance of the front walk.
6. Rhythmic purrrs.
7. Full-body stretches.
8. The curl up on your chest - and even put a paw to your cheek.
9. Their sloooow eyeblinks.
10. Their ability to find the only square of sunshine on the carpet - and fall asleep in it.
11. "Pet me now" nudges.
12. Their haughty independence...
13. ...combined with their constant need to be near you.
14. Their attention - seeking stunts.
15. The way they curl their tails around their feet so tidily.
16. The warmth of their bodies.
17. Sandpaper kisses.
18. Their cranky meows when you keep them waiting.
19. They daintily step all over the newspaper you're reading.
20. Whenever you look up, they're there.

EUCALYPTUS, JASMINE, CALENDULA...OH MY!

Due to road construction I have been driving home a different way than normal. Its such a slower paced from my usual route. It has been so breezy and cool lately that I drive everywhere with my windows down its such a free feeling to have wind rearranging your hair. There is one particular part of this drive that is breathtaking and for some reason traffic is always backed up there. There is a faint smell of roses, although I do not remember seeing any roses I know their petals are velvety and smooth. A stronger scent of eucalyptus drifts in and out of my windows...coming and going like waves on a sandy shore. Then there's a breath of a mystery fragrance - I think it's jasmine or calendula. Actually I don't know what a calendula smells like or if even a plant but it sounds sweet I think. There are huge trees all around their timeless branches hugging the road overhead. Some of the trees have seed like blossoms that are wafting through the breeze. Their blossoms dripping like honey off a comb. I look around with admiration of this cascading beauty from the trees. Oh, if only I were a calendula!!!
